Keto Marinara Sauce
Make my keto marinara recipe with lots of butter. The final ratio of macronutrients is keto friendly. Add it to Thin Crust Pizzas.
Pour the tomato cans, butter, and salt into a pot. Peel and cut the onion in half and place both halves into the sauce. Simmer on medium heat for 45-60 minutes with the lid uncovered. Occasionally stir.
At the end of cooking, remove the onion halves and blend with an immersion blender. You can also use a blender. Make sure to cool the marinara sauce before using a blender.
For a quick meal, you can sauté a few handfuls of spinach with butter. Pour the tomato sauce on top of the sautéed spinach, then garnish with parmesan, fresh herbs, sausage, and Toasted Seeds.
- Cooking and removing the onion is called "sweating" the onion. The released juices will flavor the sauce with few added carbs.
- Resist the urge to add more ingredients. Any alterations will take away from the integrity of this marinara sauce.
- *Use fresh tomatoes for a tasty variation. Chop and simmer the tomatoes for a couple hours in a large pot. Add the butter and onion after the tomatoes have reduced.
